I actually bought this! Good Bike! June 16, 2009 Reviewer:  Buzz Spacey (Pittsburgh *Go Pens!*, PA)  See all my reviews >

Bought this bike for my wife when they were offering FREE shipping! Yes, the $90 regular shipping would negate the value of the bike, but that should not affect the product review.

First I must caution that mine arrived in a very mangled box (via UPS which seems to damage everything). Fortunately bikes are sturdy and except for one small ding in the paint there were no significant issues.

The bike itself was a decent bike, not the highest end features but a very good value for an entry level bike. I assembled it in about an hour, and it took another 30-60 minutes to check it out and adjust brakes/gears etc. The only quality issue I saw was the Schwinn logo sticker on the main steering post was crooked.

My wife liked the look, kid of a fusion between retro and sporty. She wanted the pedal brakes instead of hand brakes, but those are only available on single speed bikes and with the hills around here I convinced her the gears will be more useful feature in the long run (er, ride?).

So if you can get it on a free shipping deal or in your local store, go for it.

Bike in poor condition and damaged. June 19, 2009 Reviewer:  Robert C (Hoopeston, Il)  See all my reviews >

I ordered (2) bikes and still waiting for replacement parts so we can use one of them. The bikes have scratched paint and would appear damaged from shipping and yes the manufacturer should pack these better. Both units have scratches all over them in areas not affected by any possible damaged during shipment. The bikes are promising if you get past the imperfections and received the parts to use them under warranty. Schwinn has also been very attentive in trying to send replacements if they have them. I understand the low cost structure with the quality received. I'm glad my wife's bike is somewhat ok. I hope in the future to ride mine safely when and if the needed parts arrive. This is a good bike! But better customer care to products and warranty should be at the level of the desired purchase. I didn't expect a bigger price bike but at least one that works. Etc. Damaged wheel nuts, bent rim, bent and crack rear brake handle and cable, paint scratches everywhere.

AVOID! July 3, 2009 Reviewer:  Jdejre (Binghamton, NY)  See all my reviews >

Just received the bike in the mail today. The box was severely damaged (as noted by other people... I should have considered myself warned!) The bike itself was dented and scratched, but I am willing to overlook these things, as it will probably get scratched in the course of use. As we started to assemble the bike, I noted that the seat was missing. I called Target.com customer service and they said that they cannot do anything, I would have to contact Schwinn. I called them, and they were closed for an extended 4th of July weekend. So now I have a bike that is scratched, dented and that I cannot ride until I can contact their CS and they can ship me another seat (assuming they will!). I hate to spend another more price on a replacement seat in store due to their negligence, however I may have to. It is overall a beautiful bike and if one can find it pre-assembled in store, it is probably a good buy. Otherwise... AVOID!

Several Defects July 26, 2009 Reviewer:  Bike Lover "Gina K" (San Diego, CA)  See all my reviews >

I really wanted to love this bike, but it's been nothing but trouble for me. The chain falls off when I shift gears on an incline, the front brake cable slips out and you lose the front brake unexpectedly (imagine if it happened to both brakes at once!), and the seat squeaks as you ride it. I have had many bikes over the years, and this is the first one I've ever felt the need to return. It's as if the bike was tweaked when it arrived.
I have nothing against Target and wouldn't hesitate to purchase a bike from them again, the problem with this bike lies with either Schwinn or UPS. All I know is, it's a lemon.

I also ACTUALLY PURCHASED THIS BIKE!!!! June 20, 2009 Reviewer:  CMiller (Garner, NC)  See all my reviews >

First, I agree w/ Ameilia Walton, rate the bike, not the shipping. I actually ride the bike and it is a wonderful bike. I purchased this bike when Target offered FREE SHIPPING.

This bike is perfect for my needs. I wanted a bike with a few speeds, good brakes and one that I could sit upright on and carry a bag over my shoulder or back while riding around a campground. I also use this bike for riding around my neighborhood for exercise. I have had my bike for 2 weeks and have rode it almost everyday. No complaints.

I will also add that like a previous reviewer, my bike was delivered by UPS and came in a mangled box. One screw was missing(my husband had extras) and there was a few scratches(car touchup paint fixed). This is a delivery problem and not a bike problem.

Nice bike! July 12, 2009 Reviewer:  I Heart Target (New York, NY)  See all my reviews >

[...]
My friend owns this bicycle and I've used it several times. It's very comfortable and just the right height for me (I'm 5'8"). Switching gears mid-ride can be a bit awkward if you're like me and not used to bikes with multiple gears. My friend told me that there were some superficial dents and scratches when she received it, but she didn't mind because she would have dinged it up herself anyway. She is very happy with her purchase, which makes me want to buy one for myself!

Bike arrived today July 2, 2009 Reviewer:  SB (PA)  See all my reviews >

Yes, the box and packaging are not adequate but the bike was in very good condition (considering) and I'll give it four stars. A couple of screws and bolts were missing because of the big holes in the box, but we had what we needed in the garage. It's a nice heavy bike and the free shipping deal made it a good value.

Won't stay in first gear October 18, 2009 Reviewer:  Anne (California)  See all my reviews >

It is inexpensive, so what can I expect? But the first gear does slip and won't stay in place. But since I don't ride it a whole lot, that is fine with me. Otherwise it is comfortable to ride and most other gears work. I didn't want anything more expensive incase it ever got stolen.

Classic Bike! July 23, 2009 Reviewer:  Vera Osidach "Biker Chick" Real Name (Washington, DC)  See all my reviews >

Very cool bike, with a great nostalgic look. With the FREE SHIPPING, it's also quite the bargain! UPS really banged up the box, but I'd have probably dinged the paint myself before too long . . . .

Good bike for the price July 17, 2009 Reviewer:  kariusa (Oregon)  See all my reviews >

I purchased the bike with the free shipping and eventhough it arrived in a destroyed box and had a couple dings and nicks, it's a good bike for the right price. I just wanted to have something to cruise around on and that had some gears. I had to adjust a couple things and was issing some hardware, but it does its job and I'm pretty happy.
